One book, two languages

A project starts in English and can carry additional languages alongside it. Each language gets its own page text and its own narration. The artwork, page order, layout, cropping, video clips, and story music stay shared, so the translated book looks exactly like the original — it just speaks differently.

This is built for the households that actually need it: a grandparent who reads in Tamil, a parent who reads in English, and one book between them.

Languages available

Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Japanese, and Korean, all in beta. English is always the original and is not counted as a translation.

English is the source

You write and edit in English, then translate from it. That keeps one version authoritative instead of leaving you to reconcile two drafts by hand.

This is free and needs no AI. Type the translation yourself, or copy the English across as a starting point and work over it. Both are local and never contact a translation service. With Studio Plus you can also translate the whole book with AI.

When you change the English afterwards

This is the part most apps get wrong, and the part worth understanding.

Editing an English page never deletes or silently overwrites its translation. Instead, that page is marked Needs review, because the app remembers exactly which version of the English each translation was approved against.

You then choose, per page:

• Edit the translation yourself and save it against the new English.
• Update from latest English with AI (Studio Plus), review the result, and save it.
• Keep current translation, if the change was small enough that the existing wording still works — and keep its narration.

Changing a translated page’s words, by hand or with AI, clears that page’s old translated narration, so a recording never ends up attached to words it doesn’t match.

Reordering pages keeps every language layer with its page. Deleting a page deletes its translations with it.

Narration in each language

Every language owns its narration independently. Record yourself reading the Spanish or import a grandparent reading the Tamil; none of it touches your English recording. Studio Plus adds AI narration for any language you don’t speak.

When you export, still-photo page timing follows the narration length of whichever language you are exporting, so pages don’t cut off mid-sentence in one language to match another.

Exporting

Export one language at a time, as PDF, MP4, or subtitles.

A translated export is blocked while any cover or page is still missing its translation — a half-translated book is not something you want to discover after sending it. If every page is translated but some are stale, the app asks you to confirm, then uses your translated wording rather than quietly dropping English into the middle of it.
